UM CICA Masters’ Cup Scoring System and General Rules (as of 12 Aug 2018)

I. Scoring System

  1. Scoring / Points to RCs – Colleges which win the 1st place to 5th place of any tournament will be respectively scored:  100, 80, 70, 60 and 50 Masters’ Cup points. The rest of the colleges which are not in the 1st place to 5th place but participate in the tournament will obtain 40 Masters’ Cup points. For any Colleges that waive their right in the tournament, 0 Masters’ Cup point will then be given.

    Participation points will be given to RCs that have participated in the four CICA promotional activities, i.e. Archery, Swimming, Running/Relay, and Kinball. The maximum participation points for each of these activities each RC can earn is 50. The participation score of each activity is to be decided.

  2. Gold Card – Each college has only one chance to use a Gold Card which allows her to double the points in any CICA Tournament for the whole academic year 2018/19. For those colleges that wish to use the Gold Card, the corresponding representatives have to apply to CICA chair during a CICA meeting before the start of the tournaments.
  3. Master’s Cup – The scores of all tournaments and promotional activities of each individual College will be summed up. The College with the highest total Masters’ Cup points in all activities will be the winner of the Overall Champion of the 3rd Inter-College Master’s Cup Competition.

 

II. Rules for Appeal

  1. Any dispute during the competition will be determined according to the rules stated if applicable; otherwise, decision will be determined by the referees and the competition continues. If any team fails to continue the competition, the team will be regarded as withdrawal of the competition. Team Manger should give a formal request (verbal and written) for an appeal to the conveners within 24 hours of the ending time of the match.
  2. An appeal board will be formed to make the final judgement. Members of the Appeal Board will include the Chairman or the Vice-Chairman of the CICA, two representatives of the activity organising RC(s), and two team managers without direct conflict of interest.  If the appeal case is related to the Chairman or the Vice-Chairman of the CICA, then a neutral person, e.g. the CICA Advisor, the Deputy Advisor, or one of the Associate Masters, will be invited to be the chairman of the Board.

III. University Sports Team Members

  1. With the spirit to encourage College students to participate in the CICA sports competitions at a possibly closer playing level, the number of University sports team members and athletes is limited to ONE only at any time during a match/competition, unless otherwise specified.
  2. All players should declare whether they are or have been the University Team members of any year, and should sign on the players list for confirmation before submitting it to the respective activity organising RC.
  3. Individual College(s) will be disqualified in the concerned match/competition if they are confirmed to fail in observing Rule III 1.
