大學致力於打造一個激發學生學習熱情的環境,讓來自不同學術領域的學子能在書院裡共同生活、每天在不同書院與來自不同學系的師友共進膳食,彼此相互啟發,拓展視野,與背景和文化迥異的同伴交流與合作。每個住宿式書院均配備食堂以推動共膳教育,大學特別為書院教職員提供營養學相關的培訓配合食堂作為一個教育空間的功能 (詳情可以瀏覽教育團隊專頁)。食堂內設長桌,方便來自不同書院或學院的師生共享膳食及交流,這些共享的用餐空間有助於學生在日常用餐時建立聯繫,增進情誼。大學鼓勵書院學生到不同書院食堂自費用膳,而學生可於指定的書院食堂内使用自己的共膳參與津貼,配合書院課程導師的指導,學習自主管理健康生活及均衡飲食 (有關共膳參與津貼 CMP 及UMRC app下載可以瀏覽共膳教育專頁)。書院食堂除了提供用餐空間,也可用於舉辦學術講座、文化活動等其他用途,食堂設有小型舞台、講台和投影設施,供演講嘉賓在高桌晚宴上致辭, 為學生和教職員提供一個豐富多樣的學術文化交流平台。這樣的安排不僅能夠豐富學生的學習經驗,還能促進不同學術領域之間的交流與合作,提升整個學術社群的活力和創造力。書院食堂在供餐期內一般會向校內學生、教職員工或應邀參與活動人士開放。

The university is committed to creating an environment that inspires students’ enthusiasm for learning. The university specifically provides nutrition-related training for the staff of the residential colleges, in line with the function of the dining halls as educational spaces (For more details, please visit the dedicated page for RC Education Team). The University allowing students from different academic disciplines to live together in residential colleges, having meals in dining halls across colleges and use their communal meal participation subsidies in specific locations (for more information on Communal Meal Participation subsidy and UMRC App download, please visit Communal Meal Education page), inspiring each other, broadening their horizons, and engaging in communication and collaboration with peers from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Each residential college is equipped with a dining hall to promote communal meal education, where students can share meals at long communal tables. The dining hall is also equipped with a small stage, podium, and projection facilities, allowing guest speakers to deliver speeches during high table dinners. These communal dining spaces facilitate student connections and foster camaraderie during daily meals. In addition to providing dining spaces, the college dining halls can also be utilized for hosting academic lectures, cultural activities, and other events, providing students and staff with a rich and diverse platform for academic and cultural exchanges. Such arrangements not only enrich students’ learning experiences but also promote communication and collaboration across different academic fields, enhancing the vitality and creativity of the entire academic community. The college dining halls are generally open to university students, staff, and invited participants during meal periods.
